My family just returned from a 10 day road trip across all of the New England states. We had 42+ hours of drive time and covered 11 states. We spent most of the first day driving to get to Lake George, NY. This was suppose to be a quick stop for the night on our way to Fort Ticonderoga the following day. We were presently surprised by how beautiful Lake George was and our hotel was EVERYTHING! The Courtyard Marriott was the second best hotel we stayed at on this trip. We were right on the main road with the only roof top seating area in all of Lake George. We grabbed some pizza from right next door and enjoyed it on the roof with a view of the gorgeous lake. This is definitely an area I would go back to as it had cute shops, restaurants and you can rent boats to fully enjoy the lake! Day 2 had us heading an hour north to Fort Ticonderoga. We explored the fort and Mt. Defiance. Both of these are on the northern part of Lake George. We then drove up to Ben & Jerry's Creamery in Vermont. After enjoying a delicious ice cream treat we headed to Indian Head Resort for the night in New Hampshire. The kids enjoyed the pool, hiking along the river behind the resort and using their paddle boats on the lake behind the resort. We woke up bright and early to head a mile down the road from our motel to hike the Flume Gorge. This ended up being the favorite thing we did for almost everyone on our trip. It was a 2 mile hike and it was absolutely breath taking. When we finished our hike we drove through the White Mountains and headed to our rental in Maine. My photos due zero justice to the beauty that is Flume Gorge. You need to visit! We had the cutest rental on Desert Island by Acadia National Park in Maine. Stay turned for the next post to read about the rest of our vacation!
